THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE LAB
No generic scripts or back street coding. Stencil Lab is a live service that is forever evolving to improve as it learns. So the more designs it does the better it gets!
We start by taking your image and giving you the option to remove the background, separating your subject. This means no wasted details painting a background you don’t want and more detail applied to the subject, or just keep the background and paint the entire image.
An advanced vector graphic creation algorithm then splits your image into up to 20 layers (depending on the complexity you’d like). You then have the option to dial in the various drawing parameters which are all updated in real time, so you can truly dial in your stencil before your very eyes. Registration marks are then automatically added with the option to change the size and position, so you know that your finished layers will line up perfectly.
But it doesn’t stop there! We have introduced a colour generation system that matches the colours of each layer straight to the official colour chart of the spray paint you’d like to use. Just pick your favourite spray paint brand and this is automatically applied to all designs. You can also change these colours in any layer and the design will update with this colour code in real time, allowing you to fine tune your colours to perfection.
Stencil Lab then offers a range of export options that are well suited to hand cutting or through automated cutting systems like plotters, cricut machines or laser cutters. You have a choice of .PNG .SVG or .DXF files so you are truly covered no matter your cutting preferences.
